Engine Cooling problem
2002 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Automatic 65,000 miles

MY CAR SEEMS TO BE GOING THROUGH QUITE A BIT OF COOLANT. I HAVE TO FILL IT UP AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH IF NOT TWICE. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS AND NO OBVIOUS SPOTS ON THE GROUND WHERE I PARK MY CAR. WHAT COULD THE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS BE?

Its possible that you may have a blown head gasket. Check for any sign of coolant in the oil pan. If thats what it is and its bad enough. Youll see little drops of water/coolant on the oil dip stick. Also you could feel for excessive moisture coming out the exaust. From the sound of it. Its not that bad. If your 100% sure that its not an external leak. You might want to try adding some type of block/head gasket seal. Its pretty cheap and can be found at any auto parts store. Ive used it many times on minor leaks and had alot of good results.

First of all Id make sure its not external. Try parking in your driveway or on concrete and let the car idle up to normal temp with the defrost on high heat. Check under the car, around the hoses, around the water pump, around the radiator and on the passenger side floor. If the passenger side floor is damp or wet. You may have a bad heater core. If theres not sign of any leaks in these spots. Try the sealer. Good luck hope you find the problem. :)
