My cars makes a tapping noise once in a while and the tapping gets louder as I excelerate It just started doing this but does not happen all the time. A mechanic said I have a sticky lifter and I should change the oil and use 2 qts. of Lucas oil treatment when adding new oil. He said this would help loosen up the lifter since it only taps for short periods of time. Will this hurt my engine?

2 qts may be a little much, try 1 quartSometimes sticky lifters need to be replaced, so dont be shocked if it doesnt work, but it is worth a try
