I installed a rebuilt engine, the rebuilder suggested a new timing cover which I did not replace, could this cause low oil pressure since the pump is in the cover, the car also seems low on power for a 3.8 V6. The oil ppressure is very low after warm up and causes the warning light to come on at an idle, the car runs fine except for the power being low. I don't think the 2 problems are related but the low pressure concerns me

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.
