Engine Performance problem
1996 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Automatic

estimate cost to fix heads,parts and labor...was run hot..smokes when cranked...can't drive...tight budget...best place to take it to have it fixed and if i choose to get someone to do it for me any suggestions? thanks

You can either find used heads at a salvage yard or a used engine at a salvage yard.
The only problem is that the salvage yard would only warranty the parts with replacement parts (no labor).
Look around for a local garage and talk to them about this, see what they suggest and explain you do not wish to spend a lot of money on the car.
Most will work with you, but you are probably looking at around $1500 in either case.
You want to make sure the block is in good shape (no coolant in the oil) before you just replace the heads.
