1996 Pontiac Firebird V8 Front Wheel Drive 141k miles

I am trying to sell my vehicle and of course something has to happen right before. The driver side door wont roll up but the passenger side will. There is a really strong odor coming from the driver side door, it almost smells like a burn smell or when a battery goes bad how it smells. Is it a blown fuse or a blown motor? What are the symptoms.
