I changed out a steering colum, then changed the chip in the key... it just pops out. All connections seem to be good. But the security light comes on and the starter will not crank. Is there some other reset that I sould do? It seems that the computer is not recognizing the key. It is a new key with the old chip.

You are right. The computer doesn't recognize the new system. A dealer will need to reset it. To the best of my knowledge, they are the only ones with the proper test equipment.
