When driving on somewhat rough pavement or hitting bumps in the road, the transmission and driveshaft shakes and knocks noisely. if driving on smooth pavement, car rides smooth. What could be the cause??

Check the engine and transmission mounts. You will most likly find the on on the back of the tranny is split.
