I have a 1992 pontiac firebird that has a new motor with 10 thousand miles on it, My question is the engine sputters out and stalls when it gets to about 210 - 215 degrees. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, blew out the fuel lines, changed the dist. Ca, ign. Rotor, wires, and plugs. When I first start it, it runs mint but as soon as it warms up it stalls under load, it idels fine. Any help would so helpful,

thank you

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked to make sure the EGR is functioning correctly?

Let me know.

Thank you for your quick response. I haven't checked the e.G.R. Yet, the check engine light has not come on yet. This car has got me totally stumped.

Thank you very much again for any suggestions

Let me know what you find. Also, the temp is getting higher than I like. You may want to replace the t-stat.

Thanks again for your help with my 92 pontiac firebird, it ended up being the foolish e.G.R. Valve I removed the hose plugged the hole and now it runs great. I guess the valve was sticking open.
Thank you again,
D.J.

While I'm no "pro" car mechanic I also own a 92 v8 pontiac firebird original engine (few parts replaced) and after a full tuneup timed and completely maintenanced I get a operating temp of about 120 average in the hot sun of florida. Again I'm no pro mechanic but shouldn't a v6 version of the 92 run operating temp of about the same? Before the tuneup and maintenance mine also ran above temp at around 240-260.

Actually the factory thermostat is set to open fully at 195 degrees. If you are running at 120, it isn't running warm enough which will eventually cause other problems.
