Engine Mechanical problem
1991 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 156xxx miles

Over the summer i had some problems with the fuel filter on my firebird, i replaced it twice. Then it started acting up again and it seemed like the same problem, only when i took the fuel filter off it was completely clean. My father, who knows a bit more about cars than me suggested that the timing chain went out. So i was wondering if there would be any other mechanical problems besides the chain. Like if i got the chain replaced would it be alright, or could the chain going out have affected anything else in the engine?

Sounds as though you have a fuel system problem but what's that got to do with the timing chain-explain exactly what the problem is.
