1985 Pontiac Firebird V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I just had new flowmaster80 series muffler put on my 1985 firebird exhaust manifolds are glowing red have stock exhaust manifolds . Took out catilatic converter put in test pipe drove 10 miles exhaust manifold is still glowing red. Put catilaic converter back in. Any help would be greatly appericated. Please.

Did the glowing happen only after a new muffler?

Super hot exhaust manifolds are usually the result of retarded timing.

How is the engine performance?
The computer will severly retard the timing when it think the engine is pinging (spark knock)
but this also causes a noticable lack of power
