1984 Pontiac Firebird Shifter cables

Just looking for some general info. My 1984 Pontiac TransAm has an auto trans. At the bottom of the shifter lever are two cables. I know one cable is the shift cable that runs directly to the transmission. What is the other cable and what is the other end conected to.

it may go to your brake pedal or steering column so you can't shift ou t of parkunless you depress the brake or turn the key on...
