Hello..I hear a tick in the engine not sure if it is a lifter or a valve..It only happens when the engine revs to 4 or 5,000 rpm..Could it be a stuck lifter..Not really sure..Thanks

Hi there,

At those revs it is a bit hard to say, A valve lifter will often tick at low revs and low oil pressure a sticky valve would normally cause problems all the time. you may be getting a bit of valve bounce caused by faulty springs, or the tick can also be worn valve guides, you can check most of this on car, but if the guides are worn the heads will have to come off.
