1988 Pontiac Fiero Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Have been working on this car for awhile trying to get it to good running order. I left to go to work today and it would not go over 40mph. Does anyone know what I should check. Please help ASAP I need this car to get to work. Thanks so much, T

we need a bit more info.

my gut is telling me to look at the cat converter.

but it could simply be in need of a tune up.
