1986 Pontiac Fiero 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual ?? miles

any ideas as to why the sleeves that go in the calipers have thread destroying knobs on the inside? or why when I put synthetic brake grease on them they freeze up and don't want to move unless you smack them with a hammer?

I think you are talking about the rear brakes. And the thread things you talk about should be the parking brake adjuster and shold be turned back with a tool.
