I have a stock 1986 2.8L motor that has 2 cylinders with no pressure, the car starts and is driveable but with sluggish performance and brutal gas mileage. The car exhaust has a very strong smell of gasoline and there is an intermittent engine code 45 (rich exhaust at 02 sensor). I'm under the impression that the cylinders are not siezed as if that were the case the car would not be driveable. I've been told by a mechanic that to adjust the tappets I would have to drop the engine (I cant remember which cylinders have no pressure but I do remember being told the two in question are inaccessable), is it possible to adjust them without dropping the engine? -- through backyard mechanic magic?
