I have a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville Sedan, 3.8L, 92000 miles. There is a squeal around the pulley connected to the alternator where the belt goes around. It used to happen when it rained and then went away. A few days ago it started and won't stop. The noise is there at idle and the frequency increases with speed. If I put some lubricant on the area it will stop it for a short time but them starts up again.
My question is - is this a nuisance item or major concern I need to have looked at. My belts are about 4 or 5 months old.
