oil pan replacement 2002 Bonneville 3800 V6

My neighbor has a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville with the Series 2 3800 V6. He recently hit a rock and cracked his oil pan. Some people say you have to unbolt the transmission to remove the pan, others say you have to practically remove the motor to change it. It LOOKS like you could change it without much trouble-just looking for some advice before we get in over our heads! Thanks for any help! David

you will need to remove the right side engine mount bracket.this is the hardest part. you will also need to remove the plastic torque converter cover. then remove the oil pan.
