On the way to work this morning, my oil pressure went from 40psi to 120 psi and the Service Engine Soon light came on. The repair shop says it will be $1500 to fix. They said there is a leak between the coolant system and the oil line and that there is coolant in the oil. Does this sound right to you?

Good afternoon,

First, this does not sound right.

I would take it somewhere else and have them check the actual oil pressure to be sure the gauge is correct. It may be a bad sender unit.

If the oil pressure is that high, it needs an oil pump. The regulator inside is stuck open and is not regulating the pressure.
