2000 Pontiac Bonneville motor oil

This owners manual recommends 10-W30 motor oil. Dealerships and mechanics tell me 5-W30 is alright to use, and they make oil different now than they used to. ???? Thank you.

10w30 is slightly thicker than 5w30. if you have always used 10w30 in the past, i would suggest continuing to use it.
