Your GM dealer may still have the service kits for this fix but last I tried to get them they were out. The door lock actuator has what I'll call little legs with boots on them moving the door locks up and down, one for each direction. The leg that locks basically has a torn boot and so slides out of its socket. In some cases the plastic socket breaks and the service repair kit won't take care of it.
First remove the door panel on one side to gain access to the actuator. This is a tricky process for someone who hasn't done it before. It took me almost two and half hours for one door the first time I tried it as a 19yr old dealer tech. (Over a decade ago?)
The problem is one or the other and will require inspection first. If you end up needing the actuator they are available aftermarket.
Good luck.
