1999 Pontiac Bonneville V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 124K miles

LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID DOES THAT MEAN SEAL IS MISSING OR TIME FOR AEW TRANSMISSION? IT ALSO MAKES A WHINING NOISE SOMEONE SAID THAT IS NORMAL FOR TYPE OF ENGINE. IS THAT TRUE? OR IS THERE A REMEDY BECAUSE VERY IRRITATING.

If the tranny is leaking from where the pan mates w/the tranny and no higher then it's just in need of a new gasket. From the front or back of the tranny is a new seal. Anywhere else would indicate needing a rebuild but more likely a new transmission.
