I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville with a 3.8 liter 3800 V6 with 165,000 miles. I bought it "as is". With all the options and they all work. It didn't have water in the oil when I checked it the day I bought it. But I had to replace the water pump, and the thermostat. Not a good sign I know, I started it and now I have water in the oil. I didn't run it long. I changed the oil and again full of water. How do I check for blown head gasket or intake what ever it could be? Thanks for any help.

Hi there,

Check spark plugs, if one is a dirty drown colour, that will be water in the cylinder. There are chemical tests that check for Co in the water, Excessive bubbles in the radiator are also a fair indication as well.

Hi Mark
I'll check my spark plugs and let you know what I find? I know the coolant is ending up in my oil pan if that helps you any. Thanks again.

Hi there,

Time to pull the heads I think, If it is not miss firing or to rough in the idle, just have a really good look at the Vally cover (intake manifold) for corrosion and or cracks around water transfer ports, you may be lucky.

Thanks Mark, I guess I'll start with the intake, It would be nice if it was that and not much damage. I'll keep you posted, thanks again, Zimmie.
