1992 Pontiac Bonneville CV Boot replacement, rightside, out

1992 Pontiac Bonneville 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 190000 miles

can use a split type replacement boot and if so, do I need to remove the wheel and disc brake assembly to install it. Or is it best to replace the whole axle assembly.

No, you definitely don't want to use one of those things they are worthless.

These days we don't even attempt to change boots any more. Once they break open, the road sand and garbage gets in there and ruins the joint anyway. You can buy a complete re-manufactured axle for not much over $50
