P0299 code do you think something is blocked due to injector cleaner?

Hi, about 3 weeks ago I put injector cleaner in my car and basically hasn’t been same since as the next day engine light came on. I have waited for all the fuel to go and refilled tank with diesel and car still isn’t the same. Basically when I’m on motorways going up hill the car will go into limp mode but after I knock engine off all power will come back. I’ve just put a diagnostic reader and had code po299. Do you think something is blocked due to injector cleaner? Thanks

This code says that the turbo on this engine is not able to provide sufficient air to create the boost that is needed. So, it is considered an under-boost condition, and this could be caused by a number of things like a faulty boost sensor but the most common cause of this is excessive soot build up in the intake system.

So that means we should remove the intake and look for carbon build up in the throttle body coming from the turbo.

You can clean this, but the ultimate solution is to find why you have excessive soot. This is coming from the exhaust side of the turbo and entering through the EGR valve.

So, we need to remove the EGR and inspect for soot as well. If you, have it here, then you more than likely will need to replace the valve and then clean the entire EGR system.

Next, we need to find where the soot is coming from which is most likely damaged injectors. Basically, what happens is the fuel system gets contaminated and damages the injectors and they end up over fueling the engine which produces more soot. So, using an injector cleaner is a good idea but if the soot continues to build then you most likely will need to replace the injectors.

We don't have a manual on this specific vehicle, so I don't have the detail for it but more than likely we are going to have to replace the injectors, clean the fuel system, replace the fuel filter, and then clean the EGR system and replace the valve if needed.

Once this all happens you will no longer get this code and then you will just need to make sure to change your fuel filters on regulator basis so that this doesn't happen again.
