Check engine light came on, I drove it four blocks, now it turns over but wont start. I bought a reader, here is the results: P0174 fuel trim system lean bank 2
Calc load 1.6
ECT 195.8
STFT B1 3.1
LTFT B1 -1.6
STFT B2 5.5
LTFT B2 -0.8
RPM 720
I recently replaced the crankshaft position sensor, thought it went out again, but not. I was told by a master mechanic that is sounded like the fuel pump. I would like your professional opinion as you have helped me in the past. Thank you

Those fuel trim readings are not excessive, to check the fuel pump you will need to do a fuel pressure test. You can buy a fuel pressure testing kit for pretty cheap. All you have to do is screw the pressure tester on to the fuel rail. There will be a test port with a little plastic cover screwed onto it. With the key in the on/run position there should be 50 to 60 PSI fuel pressure. Most of the time if you keep the drivers side door open and turn the key to just the on/run position you can hear the fuel pump prime for two seconds. This pressurizes the fuel system for start up. But do a pressure test first. Testing for ignition spark is very easy too. A spark test is even cheaper then a fuel testing kit. You just plug it right into the spark plug wire or coil depending on the system your car has. These two tools are handy to have around anyway. Basic testing equipment for diagnosing a no start condition.

Hi GRANDMAOFABZ,

I am sending you a helpful link to an article from this site explaining the process of checking the fuel pump and pressure yourself. If you decide you would like do this yourself you can purchase a fuel pressure gauge online from sites like Amazon.com.
