Which way is the pnp. Switch supposed to be and the lever and shift linkage?

Here is the process for installing it. Just make sure you have the proper alignment tool just to make sure you don't have any shifting and linkage issues.

I have the pnp switch back on and the linkage/shift cable and it finally will start, but when I put it in reverse or neutral and press the gas it goes forward.

It sounds like it is out of alignment. Did you use the special tool specified in step 4 from what I attached before? Also, look at the note on step 5. It says to see if it will start in any other gear except P or N but this is basically the same thing. You need to adjust the switch so that it is in the same position as the gear selector.
