2000 Plymouth Voyager AC stall

Air Conditioning problem
2000 Plymouth Voyager 6 cyl Automatic

When I turn on my van it runs fine. As soon as I turn on the AC my van dies. I have no idea what to do and none has been able to tell me so far. Please help me. I have no other vehicel and I live in texas where it get's real hot. It's the only transporatation I have to take my 2 babies anywhere. I am desperate!

Your A/C Compressor is probably Locked up.... once you turn it on the clutch engages and locks up. So the a/c clutch is working fine. To check this have someone turn the a/c on while you watch the Compressor.
