Heater problem
1999 Plymouth Voyager V6 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My heater started putting out luke warm air. I took it to the dealer and they said the heater core is fine. But, they want to remove the dash and look at the vents and controllers. They said the air must be being redirected in their. They want to charge $1300 to do this. Does anyone know of an easier way to check out the vents instead of removing the whole dash?

Hi there,

Check that the hoses going to the heater core are both hot with the engine at temp and heater on hot. If one hose is cooler that the other, check that the heather tap is fully open, also have the core back flushed as well. If the vent controllers are directing air as they should (with little or no leaking at other vents and the air (fan) speed feels accurate for each setting, the vents should be ok. Check if the recirculation flap is working and not stuck on outside are all the time. I hope that this helps.
