AUXILIARY HEATER CORE
Removal & Installation
Remove right quarter trim panel. Isolate and disconnect heater hoses from heater core. Remove heater core retaining screws. Carefully pull heater core and tubes up and straight out of unit housing.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Pre-fill heater core with coolant before installation, as heater core will not gravity fill. Test rear heater system for leaks. If heater core was not pre-filled, thermal cycle vehicle twice. Operate vehicle until thermostat opens and allow to cool.
To verify rear unit is completely filled, warm engine to normal operating temperature. With engine idling, turn front blower switch off. Turn rear blower switch on high. Move both front and rear temperature controls to full hot. Ensure discharge air temperature at dual register located on "C" pillar base is 135-145°F (57-63°C).
