1998 Plymouth Voyager Chugs and backfires

Van has 3.1 and has intermitent chugging with occasional backfire. Seemed ok on highway but wife complains it happens during city driving. Have cleaned throtle body with thorotle body cleaner and put in tank of premium with STP Fuel system cleaner but problem presisits. Again not all the time

Hi:
What I would like you to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Many times the computer will store information dealing with malfunctions. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free. Also, let me know what you find (if anything) and we'll go from there.
