Hello..my 1997 plymouth voyager se mini van shakes badly from side to side starting at 40mph and seems to lessen at around 60mph, in other words once I enter and drive on the freeway it appears to no longer do it or very little..does not do it as I de-accelerate...also, when it starts doing it I can shift transmission to nuetral which causes vehicle to ease up like normal but shaking stops..my transmission got overhauled 1 year and half ago..I recently bought and had new tires installed along with balanced and alighment services...I recently also had new sway bar and bushings replaced and installed. ..axle(s) problem??...cv boot(s) problem??..please advise...thank you

It sounds like a tire balance problem. I would have the tires rebalanced.

Hello BigJim79...thank you for your response...the reason I had the tires replaced was primarily to attempt correction of this shaking symptom...and of course because the thread on them was below safe levels...so I do no think it is a balance issue...assuming it is not, what else you think could be causing it??..if feels like an earthquake as it shakes from side to side..pleas enot ethat sshifint vehicle into neutral position does stop shaking..so it had to do with whatever looses force or pressure on it when in neutral position, then shifting immediately back to drive postion imediately causes shaking....

you may have a bearing gone in the trans. such as an axle bearing. This would cause the axle to wobble under load. I would take it to some one who has a lift and look at the axle and other components while the vehicle was running raised.
