Electrical problem
1996 Plymouth Voyager 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have 1996 Plymouth voyager, intermittently will cut off after starting. The tachometer and the odometer lights will not be displayed, and the fuel pump will not engage, so it wont start. Sometimes it starts right up, but we can tell when its going to do this, by turning on the key, if the "tach lights" come on before we turn the key all the way, it will start, if they dont, we know were in trouble again. They van also has a factory installed alarm system but it seems to be working, but I was thinking it maybe had something to do with that, shutting things down? We just purchased the van an this is driving me nuts, as well as putting me the kids in danger at night. I dont mind making a donation at all, but I just tried this on another site, and they basically took my money. If you can help solve the problem, I will make a larger donation!

Ok well lets see what we can figure out here but first I need some info ok. I would like to know which V-6 you have 3.0 or 3.8 and is the check engine light on? Get back to me and we will see what we can figure out here. Now you will need to do some testing ok. So you will need a digital multi meter too. Now next time this does this I would like you to check and see if it has spark and if there is spark then I would like you to see if there is fuel. I am thinking either the BCM or maybe the anti theft system depends on what is happening when this problem happens. Get back to me with what you can. Thanks.

Its a 3.3 ltr, It has spark, but the fuel pump wont engage when this occurs, and its doing it now. We checked everything we possibly could, battery, spark, fuel, connections we could find, all the relays. The only thing we cant check is the alarm, we cant seem to find any information on it, its not in the repair manual, or the book on the van. We took it to a concert the other night, it did fine, then we got up the next morning and it was doing it again. We left it alone, and went back that afternoon, and it started up fine. We drove it that day to run some errands, and now went to go to the grocery store, and its doing it again! Please Help! My husband is very mechanically inclined, and this is driving him insain lol We think it has something to do with the alarm too, cause what would cause the tach/odo lights Plus the fuel pump to just periodically not function this way? The check engine light did come on after the first time, but not anymore, we did the reset/trip buttons to get the codes, and only got the 999 so its not giving any codes. Although we can only check for the codes, when the tach/odo lights are working, so that was futile. He would like to know if maybe it has something to do with the power train control module? (Pcm)

Ok I do not think it is the alarm as everything else is working. So has he checked the auto shut down relay? It is in the underhood fuse relay box next to the fuel pump relay. This relay controls the fuel pump and sends the power to the PCM to power the injectors and a few other things. So make sure that fuse 12 25amp is good. Then with a multi meter make sure that when the key is on that the dk blue wire with yellow stripe is getting power then make sure that the dk green wire with the orange stripe is getting power out check when cranking too. If this dk green wire with orange stripe don't get power when you are having the no start problem then replace it and let me know how it goes. Thanks.
