Try to listen if you can hear the fuel pump running for one to two seconds when you turn the ignition switch to "Run". If you can't hear it whir for a couple of seconds, listen under the tank while a helper turns on the ignition switch. If you still don't hear it, bang on the botom of the tank while your helper turns he switch. If this gets it started, there are worn brushes in the motor. It will continue to run until the engine stops running. There's a chance it will not start again next time, but often the problem won't show up again for days or weeks.

If you do hear the pump run for those two seconds, check for spark during cranking. If it's missing or intermittent, suspect a problem with the crankshaft position sensor.
