I have a 1990 Plymouth Voyager that I recently got. It seemed to run well and then one day my husband was driving it and it switched over into second gear and never switched back out. It is "stuck" in second gear. I don't know anything about cars and was told I probably need a new Transmission. Is there any smaller problem that might be the cause?

could be a smaller problem ,you need to take it to a reputable trans shop and have the trans controller scanned for codes, could be electronic solenoid problem(or worse) won't know till you get it checked, also ck. the fluid if it is burnt brown and smelly you may need an overhaul
