the brake light came on, the pedal went to the floor but stops, i checked the fluid ,it was fine, does this sound like a bad booster, i do need rear linings, but ive needed them for awhile now, but i never had any problems before.

Those symptoms sound like a loss of fluid pressure from a leak. Are you sure the fluid level is OK?
