1997 Other Plymouth Models transmission

When I am driving the rpm accelerates to over 3 and then jumps gears. When I come to a stop the car wont accelerate. I added transmission fluid and that did not seem to help. What do u think could cause this?

You probably need a trans service at least, and you may have a bad torque converter
