Hi guys. Check for a sheared off dowel pin between the camshaft and its sprocket if this is a single cam engine.

Turning isn't the issue. It is real common for the dowel pin to shear and over time, the sprocket turns slightly on the camshaft. Since the camshaft position sensor is on the other end of the cam and not by the sprocket, the Engine Computer detects that as though the belt has jumped a tooth. At one tooth mismatch, the computer turns on the Check Engine light and sets a fault code for "cam and crank out of sync". At two teeth off, the computer shuts the engine down to protect it. At three teeth off, open valves will hit the pistons. This only applies to the single cam engine. I've never heard of it happening to the DOHC engine.
