Electrical problem
1996 Plymouth Neon 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 96 Plymouth neon. Before it quit one me It started acting funny by all the instrument giving false readings. Oil light came on temp ,read hotthen every thing returned to normal. When it quit I coul restart and as sone as i put it in drive it would start stalling. I checkthe codes by the chech engine light method. I have replaced the coil , timing belt and crankshaft position sensor. None of these fixed it. i bought a code sensor and these are the codes, P0123, TPS voltage high . P0111 IAT sensor 1 CTK range/perf and P0113 IAT senor1 circut input too high ,TB/M Temp voltage too high.

I'd check ground G100, left side of radiator closure panel. Pins 4 and 5 at the data link connector are grounded at that point. I forget which is sensor ground, check them both, use led test lite connected to voltage. Multiple codes can mean a problem with a ground circuit. I don't replace anything without trying to check the wiring circuit.

I did some further checking. I check the TPS and the reading were high. I took off the connector and and check each wire there was power to each one . Isn't one of them supose to be a ground. I did nt think there should be any power but to the wire that supplies the 5 volts to the TPS.

I agree with you, the signal return is not a shared circuit. I'd have to take the connector loose from the pcm and check the signal return pin at the pcm. If that pin isn't hot, the voltage is coming from somewhere else. If that pin is hot, I'd double check all power and grounds to the pcm, then suspect the pcm.

Thanks for the information I also am getting help from others. I learned it pays to have the right kind of tools,if i had a code scanner at the time , instead of ucing the engine light method to get the codes , I would have saved time and money
