1995 Plymouth Neon Timming marks on 2.0 sohc Neon

When setting the crank and cam timming on there marks is it possable to have the engine 180 degrees out of time on the crank I just want to make sure when I put the crank on its mark that it will always be on the compression stroke. I had to order a new head I got the old one off and #1 piston is at top and the crank is on its mark but could it be on its mark and on the exhaust stoke at the same time or do I have it right ???

As long as the #1 piston is at TDC, you have no worries about the crank being out of position.

Just ensure the cam timing marks are correct and you cannot go wrong.

If the crankshaft is 180 degrees out of time, #2 and # 3 position would be at TDC.
