I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR BOGGED OUT WHEN I GAVE IT GAS AND IT JUST DIED. I TRIED TO START IT BACK UP BUT IT WOULDNT START. THE MECHANIC SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TIMING BELT SLIPPED.

Do you know if the car has had its 80,000 mile maintenance done?

The timing belt should have been replaced at that time...

However, it is still possible it could have slipped.
