I was driving my car and the gas gage (which was half full) dropped to empty and the gas light came on. I filled it back up. It only took 7 gallons and it has a 15 gallon The gas gage then showed a full tank and the light was off. That was 3 days ago and it hasn't done that since.

Wait and see if it does it again. It it happens again you need to check the wiring to the fuel tank, specifically the ones for the fuel sending unit.
