1996 Plymouth Breeze engine noise

Noises problem
1996 Plymouth Breeze 6 cyl Automatic 125000 miles

when i press on the gas it makes like a winding noise. Not sure but i think its engine. Doesnt do when idling or stopped at a light.

Does it make the sound in neutral if you rev the engine? Has the check engine light come on?
