Hi Guys, Love your site.
This car runs fine at idle and when revved up but when I get on the road it will run fine at first then go through periods where it hesitates, spits and sputters for a couple of seconds, then runs fine for a little while, then does it again. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Its a long list but has to be checked to get to the source of the problem

Inspect and test all the following listed below, we start here and comeback with results

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking,fuel filter or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard and continue testing

Upon further inspection I found that the engine appears to only be running on three cylinders. It's getting spark but not sure about fuel. The air filter is toast. I'm thinking: cam, EGR valve, fuel injecter. any ideas?

The problem ended up being a simple tune up was needed. Cap, rotor, plugs, and, wires. I pulled the plug on the non firing cylinder to see if the plug was firing. It fired a few times and quit. I pulled the cap and saw that all the contacts were in bad shap.
