1992 Plymouth Acclaim Engine Runs Rough

Engine has been running rough and sometimes surges which started occurring after the missus allowed the gas in the tank to go to the lowest level and I guess leaving only a gallon or so left before she filled up again. So, I suspect dirt in the filter and perhaps to the injectors. So can I just change the gas filter to correct the problem? Pour an aftermarket injector cleaner in the gas tank? I hope that I don't have to replace the injectors!

Yeah your filter shouldve cought any debris without reaching the injectors. Changing the filter should fix your problem. Just make sure your idle air control valve is in good shape and that you dont have any vacuum leaks
