I just changed the coil, spark plugs and wires and installed a new fuel filter for this friend and the car is still stalling when he makes turns. Engine stops and will not start for several minutes. what can I look at next?

The codes, and if there are none, the fuel pump is shutting off when the fuel moves around in the tank. If never replaced, do it just for age reasons, and filter again with pickup screen on pump new. If no other codes.

That's what I was considering. owner will not put that work into the car. I was looking at the area were the fuel pump is located, and it's really rusted. I would think the whole tank should be replaced.

At that age and mileage you are very correct. Even if there is some other sensor that is bad, if the pump is original, its time has come, and past. Hoseas, even the wiring all only lasts so long. But in the dealer, we must consider everything. So we gauge fuel pressure, scan it and see if the rest of the car is even worth the 2 grand fixing it right will cost.
You could just tune or adjust and tell the customer we will see, but the truth is the truth. And why spend anyones money needlessly. The gauge alone for testing pressure is 70 bucks for a decent one that lasts. How about a can of gas tune-up chemical? Cheap try. ok 4 cylinder with 140 thousand is like a V-8 with 70,000 and even that is the limit of any warranty.
