Transmission problem
1989 Plymouth Acclaim 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

While changing a/t fluid, I noticed four pan bolt holes are stripped, and the screws wont tighten. How do I fix this problem? Thanks.

You can tap them and use a bigger screw, or there is also a thing out there named a heli coil. It looks like a little springs of various sizes. You ream out the exhisting holes a size bigger then the heli coil is screwed in with a tool that comes with the kit. Then you can put the original bolts back in. If the bolts are not next to each other then you might get away with just using gasket sealer. This may work for the time being. If there are two bolds next to each other it will be harder to seal properly. There are ways that one would cheat, you can roll a piece of paper. Then use that to help secure the screw when you put the bold in. All that does is help the screw grab a little extra.
