I need help fixing something
Last week while driving my van the radio randomly shut off. Then it started doing it only when I braked. That lasted a couple of days before my car would shut off while in park. It would immediately come back on. Now my car is shutting off while idling at a light. It has always come back on except one time where I had to put my car in park and re start it myself. The lights on the dashboard also keep flickering. I've checked all my fuses and they're fine. I've also checked the battery and alternator (both new) and they are giving off the proper voltage. This thing is almost paid off and I'm barely making ends meet so I can't afford a new one. Anyone have ideas on what's going on or what to check?

Yep, this is a common problem with these vans, the TIPM is probably going out, but I would check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight. The system may have a trouble code that can help confirm the problem, you will need to do a CAN scan. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here is how to do the TIPM replacement which I would get new from the dealer, it is easy to replace because itself learns. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thank you for the reply. I've already scanned it and no codes. We did have an issue 3 months ago where the TV was opened (usually stays closed because it doesn't work) and all lights on dash came on, headlights and brake lights stopped working and windshield wipers came on and would go off. Once the TV was re-opened and closed it stopped all that. No issues since then as long as door stays closed.

Could all that be related to this issue?

Yes, it can be related, when you say scan, was it a CAN scan? It still can be the TIPM which does not always leave a code. All of the items you have mentioned are controlled by the TIPM.

Yes, a CAN scan.

With no codes in the CAN I would lean towards the TIPM. I have seen the TIPM cause some relay strange problems which you seem to have.
