Cat was making a loud noise coming from driver's side. Seemed to be having trouble when accelerating. Then shut off while on my way to work. It wouldn’t jump so I replaced the battery. Then it broke down a second time and the brand-new battery was completely drained. Everyone keeps saying the alternator but that doesn’t explain the loud noise or the trouble accelerating. Please help.

The loud noise may have been the alternator locking up and causing a large power draw on the engine. I have seen a seized alternator stop and engine from starting because the starter couldn't turn the engine. First thing I would do is go under the hood and use a wrench to turn the belt tensioner and loosen the belt and remove it. Now go to each of the pulleys and see if they turn freely. I suspect at least one won't. That will be the item you need to deal with. It could be any of them. The image shows the belt path. You will need a new belt as well as a pulley that isn't turning will damage the belt.
