I own A Buick Roadmaster 92 5.7 liter v8 I was driving on the freeway and I exited I was about half a block from the exit my car sputtered and died I remove the exhaust manifolds and tried to start it and it started we assembled it and drove home but all the sudden I could only drive it slow and was barely pressing the paddle if I press the pedal to the floor it acted like it wanted to die but if I lightly press the pedal it went so I assumed it was the fuel filter which I replace and it still had the same problem so my next assumption was the fuel pump so I replaced the fuel pump and I'm still having the same problem and I'm not sure what it is I'm thinking it could be something to do with the EVAP system my friend suggested it might be the EVAP purge switch which could be possibly stuck open but I'm not sure your opinion would be very helpful thank you

Is there a a lot of exhaust coming out of the exhaust pipe when pressing the gas pedal? You could have a plugged cat. You should have the exhaust back pressure test to eliminate that as a possibility.

Iam doing good you can get a exhaust back pressure test done at a exhaust shop. So does the car not shift until you let up on the gas pedal a little bit?

I've never really had an issue with the shifting but before when I would try to floor it would rev really high before shifting and there was also slight power loss before the shift

It almost sounds like fuel contamination this is difficult to look for because you have to drop the tank and remove the fuel pump then look inside with a flashlight.

Here is a video on it
