in safe mode after washing engine

We purchased this car used (V8 engine) three days ago and yesterday we cleaned the
engine(now we know that was not a good idea) but now the ETC light is on and the car is in "safe mode" and car will not accelerate. It will idle but will not move. Before this, the car was running good.
what should i do? any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hello,

It sounds like you got some water in the throttle actuator connector. Please remove it and dry it out. Also leave the hood open to help further the drying process.

If that doesn't help please scan the computer for codes to see what part of the system is having a problem.
